Bayer Leverkusen are now the first Bundesliga club to finish a full Bundesliga season without any defeat, MySportDab reports.
The Bundesliga champions rounded up their impressive campaign in the German top-flight with a deserved 2-1 win over Augsburg to finish the season unbeaten.
Victor Boniface and Andrich’ were the heroes as the Die Werkself eased past Augsburg at the Bay Arena to secure victory.
Boniface raced Leverkusen into the lead in the 12th minute before Andrich doubled it in the 27th minute to make it 2-0.
Augsburg made a late push in the final minutes of the first 45 to reduce the deficit all to no avail as the hosts made good their efforts to preserve the lead.
Seventeen minutes into the second half, Augsburg got one back to revive comeback hopes through Komur but it was the visitors and games’ last goal as Bayer Leverkusen held on to preserve the lead.
The game ended with the host running out with a deserved 2-1 victory to wrap up a magical and incredible run in the German top-flight.
They were officially handed the Bundesliga trophy having won it with six matches to spare before the end of the campaign.
It was a history-making day for the North-Westphalia-based outfit as they lifted the Bundesliga title for the first time in the club’s history, and also became the first Bundesliga outfit to finish a full season unbeaten.
Xabi Alonso will hope to complete a perfect campaign with the team with the Europa League trophy also up for grabs.
