”I’m Closer To Leaving,” – Guardiola Confirms Decision on Man City Future After EPL Title Win [Video]

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will continue in the dugout as Manchester City manager next season but has revealed he may leave soon, MySportDab reports.

Manchester City won their seventh Premier League title under Pep Guardiola, after defeating West Ham 3-1 on the final day to pip challengers Arsenal to the title.

Speaking after the trophy win, Guardiola said he is close to leaving Manchester City after his seventh Premier League title with the club.

“The reality is I’m closer to leaving than staying”.

“We have talked with the club and my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season”.

“But during the season we will talk, we will see”.

Pep Guardiola’s original Manchester City contract expired after he led the club to their first treble of the Champions League, Premier League, and the FA Cup.

He agreed a new contract with the club to continue for the next two seasons – 2023/24 and 2024/25 season.

However, it was understood that the two-year contract was structured as single one-year terms which could be ended at the end of each campaign.

Hence, there were speculations on the future of the Spanish tactician as City or himself had the liberty to end the deal at the end of the season based on the terms of the agreement.

Now, the 54-year-old has cleared the air confirming he will continue as City’s manager next season to wrap up the two-year contract. However, it is unclear whether he will pen down a new deal after he has run out the current contract next season.

In his eight seasons with the club, Guardiola has won six Premier League titles, with six of the England Championships won in his last seven seasons.

He became the first manager to 4 Premier League titles in a row and has also added the Champions League, FA Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup to his Manchester City collection.
