Liverpool are reportedly planning a shock multi-million-pound move for Newcastle United star, MySportDab reports.

It is understood the Reds are set to overhaul the club this summer with some first-team players likely to face the axe.

The club want to hand new manager designate, Arne Slot, his first top signing as the Dutch prepares for a spell with the Premier League giants.

The Newcastle United star in question is English prolific attacker and former Everton star Anthony Gordon.

Gordon has been key to Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United squad since he joined from Everton in January 2023 on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

With three years left on his contract, the prolific forward has been linked to an exit from the club.

According to Daily Star, Gordon is one of the top players Newcastle United could be forced to part ways with alongside Longstaff to avoid collision with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Liverpool are reportedly ready to splash as much as £100m for the player – a tempting offer enough to have the Magpies consider a deal having signed the player for just £45m from Everton.

Liverpool’s interest in the youngster stems from his prolific campaign with the Magpies this season, having scored 11 goals with 11 assists, and earned a call-up to the England national team by Gareth Southgate.

Following his impressive campaign with the Magpies, Gordon is expected to make Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad and could return to don the red stripes of Liverpool after the tournament should the Reds broker an agreement with Newcastle United for the player.

Gordon is a Liverpool graduate and could relish a return to Merseyside where he developed his nascent footballing skills before signing his first professional football contract with Everton.
