Wayne Rooney Signs Contract For New Manager Offer

Wayne Rooney has agreed a new contract to return to a second Championship side as manager, MySportDab reports.

The former Man United and Everton forward has been out of the dugout since he lost his job as Birmingham City manager on January 4, 2024.

Birmingham City parted ways with the English football icon after just three months as he could only manage two wins in 15 matches after taking over the club.

After his sack, Birmingham ended up being relegated to the third tier with Rooney blamed by the fans for his disastrous short spell with the club.

Rooney’s disappointing spell with Birmingham City was the second time he was forced out of the dugout manager for a dismal campaign. The former MLS star endured a similar fate at DC United where he was forced to resign after a grim campaign with the club.

Away from his botched spells with DC United and Birmingham City, Rooney will hope to have his luck shine through this time as he returns to the dugout.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 38-year-old.jas signed a three-year contract with Plymouth as their next manager and is expected to resume immediately ahead of next season.

Plymouth turned to Rooney after parting ways with their former manager Ian Forster after the latter struggled with just two wins in eight games.

The team escaped relegation at the dearth in the just-concluded 2023/24 Championship campaign with Rooney expected to prepare the team to challenge for promotion to the English top-flight next season.
