Fulham and Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has opened up about his love for Nigeria and his pride in representing the Super Eagles, MySportDab Reports.

In a recent interview with Kiss Fresh, London, the former Arsenal star shared his deep connection with his home country and its unique culture.

Iwobi highlighted the distinctive mannerisms of Nigerians, particularly the Yoruba people, who he described as “so loud.” He expressed his admiration for the welcoming nature of Nigerians and their rich hospitality. “Everyone is so welcoming, rich in hospitality and it’s like one big family,” he said.

The footballer also emphasized the sense of community among Nigerians, noting how those who are doing well often give back to their communities. This is a trait he has observed among his fellow footballers, who always try to contribute to their hometowns.

Iwobi’s love for Nigeria extends to its cuisine. He revealed that the first thing he does when he lands in Nigeria is to order pounded yam and egusi, a popular local dish.

In the same interview, Iwobi reflected on his decision to represent Nigeria over England at the international level. Despite having represented England up to the under-18 level, Iwobi stated that he feels more at home in Nigeria.

He described football in Nigeria as a festival, with the entertaining atmosphere in Nigerian stadia giving him a sense of belonging.

“I actually felt more at home in Nigeria. Football out there is like a festival, it’s like a party… I was like, ‘Yeah, this is where I belong,’” he said. While he respects England, Iwobi affirmed that he has no regrets about choosing to play for Nigeria. He made his senior international debut for Nigeria in October 2015 and has since become a key player for the Super Eagles.
