Former West Ham star and football pundit, Shaka Hislop, has urged Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, and the club’s transfer decision-makers to prioritize signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window, MySportDab Reports.
Hislop believes that the acquisition of Osimhen, who is currently with Napoli, could significantly boost Arsenal’s chances of clinching titles in the next season. Despite coming close to winning the Premier League title for the fourth consecutive season, Arsenal fell short, finishing as runners-up, just two points behind champions Manchester City in the previous campaign.
Osimhen, a 25-year-old Nigerian international, has reportedly expressed interest in a move to the Premier League. Arsenal is among the clubs being linked with the striker, who is set to depart Napoli.
Hislop emphasized that Osimhen possesses the qualities that Arsenal needs to strengthen their squad, particularly highlighting Osimhen’s physicality and finishing ability.
According to Hislop, “He ticks all the boxes that Arsenal need. He provides the physicality if not a little bit more than Kai Havertz does in terms of height and set pieces. He provides the finishing that Gabriel Jesus promised but hasn’t delivered in the past couple of seasons.”
Hislop suggested that Arteta should make Osimhen the club’s number one transfer target. He believes that securing Osimhen’s signature should be Arsenal’s primary focus before considering other transfer moves.
Hislop stated, “If I am Mikel Arteta, I am making Osimhen my number one target and then we see who else we can sell and replace and where else we can strengthen in the squad.”
In conclusion, Hislop believes that Osimhen ticks all the boxes for what Arsenal requires in a striker. He emphasized the importance of securing a player of Osimhen’s caliber to bolster Arsenal’s attacking options and increase their chances of competing for titles in the upcoming season.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s transfer strategy will be keenly watched by fans and pundits alike.
