Chelsea Overtake Bayern, Close In On Marc Guiu Deal

Chelsea have overtaken Bayern Munich in the race to sign Marc Guiu from Barcelona, MySportDab reports.

The 2006-born footballing talent was thrust in the spotlights after his prolific campaign with Spain U17 in the UEFA European U17 Championship in 2023.

Guiu won the Golden Boot in the tournament after emerging as the highest goal scorer. He tallied a total of 10 goals in 17 appearances for La Roja’s youth side.

The standout campaign with Spain saw top European clubs line up for the services of the La Masia graduate, who has a year left on his Barcelona contract.

Bayern Munich were leading the race for Guiu and had reportedly held talks which ended positively with Barcelona. However, Chelsea have now overtaken the Bundesliga giants and are reportedly close to a deal for Guiu, as per Fabrizio Romano.

“Chelsea are advancing in talks to sign Marc Guiu by triggering €6m release clause.

“The agreement with Guiu on long term deal is getting closer, Bayern overtaken after positive talks this weekend.

❗️Barça offered Guiu new deal — still no final answer from player’s side,” Fabrizio Romano says

With a year left on his contract, suggestions are that Guiu is more likely to leave Barcelona. He has been offered a new contract by the club but has yet to respond as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano’s report.

Meanwhile, he has just €6m release clause on his Barcelona which could be triggered by his suitors to make him available for a transfer.

Guiu made only 3 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, including 2 Champions League aappearances where he scored his first goal for the club.
