Uruguay eased past Bolivia in their second Copa America 2024 Group C match, MySportDab reports.
Considered favourites to win the group, the Uruguayans opened their Copa America campaign with a resounding 3-1 victory over Panama. They needed victory against Bolivia to book their ticket for the round of 16 and they did it in style.
Five different goalscorers hurled in the goals for the team.
Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez doubled it in the 22nd minute.
The two goals were enough to condemn Bolivia to a loss in the first 45. Nothing changed in the second half with Uruguay still on the ascendancy after a commanding 2-0 lead.
While the Bolivians successfully held off their opponents for most part of the second half, they finally gave in in the 77th minute as Araujo broke the second-half deadlock, scoring to extend the lead again.
The rout continued late in the game with Real Madrid attacking midfielder Federico Valverde scoring in the 81st minute to make it 4-0.
A minute before regulation time, Bentacur also added his name to the scoresheet to make it a thumping 5-0 victory for the Uruguayans.
The win saw the team book their ticket in the knockouts, having won their two group games. They will hope to make it a perfect group stage when they take on USA in their final group game.
Meanwhile, Bolivia are on the verge of crashing out of the competition and will need a magical performance to win against Panama in their last Group fixture.
