Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala starred for Germany as they saw off Denmark in Euro 2024 round 16 clash on Saturday, MySportDab reports.

Backed by roaring home fans, Germany went into the game as favourites with their unbeaten run in the group stages.

As expected, the Die Mannschaft started the game on the front foot, holding sway over proceedings and looking set to cruise to victory.

Denmark also gave a good account of themselves with a solid performance right from the start. It was a tight affair but Germany held a slight advantage in possession and attacking threats

They were able to find the back of the net just five minutes into the game through Schlotterbergs header but a foul in the build-up by Kimmich saw the goal chalked. The two sides would head into the break with nothing to separate as it ended in a goalless draw.

Three minutes into the second half, Denmark pulled what would have been an upset. Christian Eriksen’s freekick was not dealt with by Germany’s defence, leading to a goal-mouth scramble. Anderson would later poke home the ball to give Denmark the lead.

The referee initially awarded the goal but after a VAR check, it was ruled out for an apparent offside in the build-up by Delaney.

Five minutes later, Germany finally drew the first blood. Kai Havertz scored from the spot to give the team the lead.

Eight minutes after the half-hour, Jamal Musiala doubled the lead for the hosts to put the game beyond the opponents.

Despite a late pressure by Denmark, the Germans settled deep, defended the two goals and ran out with victory at the blast of the final whistle.

They will take on the winner between Spain and Georgia round-of-16 clash for a place in the last four of the tournament.
