Lucas Paqueta Set To Face Life Ban

Lucas Paqueta is set to face a life ban from football following FA charges for sport-fixing, MySportDab reports.

The 24-year-old allegedly collaborated with his pals in Brazil to rip bookmakers. He reportedly enabled his circle to win bet by intentionally fouling opponents to receive yellow cards.

Bookmakers are said to have lost a whooping $100,000 as those who bet on Paqueta to receive the warning card during matches won in their large numbers.

The prolific midfielder was first probed for West Ham’s match against Bournemouth in which he was carded in the final minutes of the game.

He is also indicted for three other matches in the 2022-23 season involving Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Leeds United.

According to The Sun, the FA are suggesting a life ban for Paqueta for the alleged offense. They reportedly want the Independent Commission, who will adjudicate the case, to hit the player with a total ban.

This means Paqueta may see his career come to an end should he be found guilty by the Independent Commission. However, the Commission will have the leeway to deal the player with alternative penalty options.

The Brazilian footballing sensation has claimed he is innocent and has pledged to fight the allegation. Meanwhile, his slated move to Manchester City has stalled. City reached a £80m agreement with West Ham United for Paqueta before the allegations.

The club are more likely to withdraw from the move should the player fail to come out unscathed.
