Manchester United and the club’s manager Erik ten Hag have agreed to settle for a new contract after a lengthy review of the Dutchman’s performance in the 2023-24 season, MySportDab reports.
Erik ten Hag faced an uncertain future at Old Trafford following a dismal run in the Man United dugout in the just-concluded 2023-24 season. He was linked to a summer exit with reports the club is ready to part ways with him.
However, in a fortunate turn of events for the former Ajax boss, the club’s hierarchy, under the aegis of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team, are ready to continue with him as the club’s manager.
As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the two parties are now ready for a new contract which could see the 53-year-old extend his stay at Manchester United.
“Talks between Manchester United and Erik ten Hag’s agents are already underway and advanced, with all parties anticipating an agreement on a new contract.
“Ten Hag is happy to sign and continue the project while INEOS wants to give him total trust for the future. Work in progress,” Fabrizio Romano says.

Fingers are crossed on the terms of the new contract and its duration but there are speculations the Dutchman is likely to be handed a new two-year contract.
His current contract will expire after next season. So, it is likely the two parties are likely to reach an agreement on the new deal before the beginning of the next campaign.
Erik ten Hag turned a corner away from Manchester United’s poor campaign to lead the team to a 2024 FA Cup triumph, defeating Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley.
The late strong finish must have sold dreams to the United hierarchy moreso his role in developing young Manchester United players like Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
With the renewed positive energy from the club’s hierarchy, Erik ten Hag will be hoping to reward the trust by leading the team to a stronger finish in the upcoming 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
