Manchester United have announced the exit of seven players this summer as the team press on with their overhaul ahead of the next campaign, MySportDab reports.

The Old Trafford outfit, who endured a difficult 2023-24 campaign, have also revealed the list of players retained by the club.

With the club set for a new chapter under the leader of new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, there was no doubt some top players were set to be released from the squad.

The club already confirmed the departure of top defender Raphael Varane and striker Anthony Martial before officially confirming the seven names leaving the club.

Varane and Martial ran down their contract at the end of the campaign and had to leave in the wake of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new squad plan.

Varane played his last match as a Manchester United player in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City. Martial struggled with injury throughout the campaign and was sidelined till his departure.

Apart from Martial and Varane, another name included in the United exit list is Brandon Williams.

The team’s U-21 Player-coach Tom Huddlestone has also made the exit list and will hope for a fresh start elsewhere.

Also, leaving the club are Marcus Lawrence and Charlie McNeill, including Kie Plumley. The trio’s contract will expire this summer with no renewal in place.

Omari Forson has reportedly been issued a new contract but has turned it down and could join the exit list. Meanwhile, United still have a crop of players whose futures have yet to be decided with their contracts running out this summer.

Leading the list is Johnny Evans who had proven his mettle in the wing-back role for the Red Devils. Sources close to the club have revealed talks is ongoing to tie down Evans and Tom Heaton to new contracts.

While focusing on trimming the squad ahead of the next campaign, it is also understood that club manager Erik ten Hag’s future is also under intense scrutiny with the club set to take a decision soon.
