Nigeria football legend Mikel Obi has shared footage of himself undergoing surgery in a UK hospital, MySportDab reports.

The former Super Eagles midfielder took to his Instagram story to drop two footage – one of him preparing for the surgery and the other showing him lying on the hospital bed after the operation.

It is still yet to be determined what the former Chelsea star is undergoing operations for but the footage suggests the footballing legend could be battling with some ailments.

It is pertinent to note that this was not the first Obi had undergone a surgical operation. He first went under the knife in 2017 in the twilights of his prolific football career.

While speculations are likely to mount over the well-being of the former Trabzonspur midfielder, it is understood the Nigerian footballing icon has been hale and hearty.

He recently began running his football podcasts featuring top football guests like Jose Mourinho and Nigeria’s top striker Victor Osimhen. He has also granted high-octane interviews with top UK sports media houses like talkSPORT.

Overall, Mikel Obi has been up with his game post-football and contributing to the conversation in the game. He will hope to recover immediately from the surgical operation and return to football space for his fans all around the world.

During his playing career, Obi was thrust into the spotlights following his move to Chelsea in 2006 from Norwegian club, Lyn.

He would later establish himself as the club’s legend, making 289 Premier League appearances and winning the English top flight four times, including the FA Cup, EFL Cup, Europa League, and UEFA Champions League.
