Switzerland beat Italy 2-0 to send them crashing out of Euro 2024 with no chance to reclaim their title, MySportDab reports.
The current Champions are out of the tournament which would see a new winner being crowned at the end of everything.
Freuler and Vargas were the masterminds who ensured the Swiss national team had the upper hand all through the 90 minutes.

The Round 16 kicked off with both teams coming in as the first country to begin the knockout phase of the Euro 2024.
Italy had an impressive start to the game which they made opportunities but it wasn’t their day as things stayed goalless in the first 20 minutes.
Switzerland did their part until the 37th minute which saw Remo Freuler score a wonderful goal after being set up by Ruben Vargas to make things 1-0.
There was more that came to play from both Nations with the Champions pushing more but couldn’t get the comeback they needed so badly going forward.
Italy was down 1-0 against Switzerland after 45 minutes of action which was played between them for the round of 16 encounters.
They resumed the second half with a lot of expectations which didn’t pan out for the Azzurri as they were still chasing the match.
Ruben Vargas wasted no time in making things 2-0 after an outstanding goal which he scored in the 46th minute with an assist from Aebischer.
The game became worse for Italy as they continued pushing but couldn’t find a way of making anything count for themselves moving forward.
Switzerland made it through into the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 after snatching a 2-0 victory against Italy who couldn’t make much happen as they were sent packing.
