Raphael Varane is set for a new chapter with newly-promoted Serie A outfit, Como, a few months after leaving Manchester United as a free agent, MySportDab reports.
The former Real Madrid defender came to the end of his three-year spell with Manchester United, joining the likes of Anthony Martial to leave on a free transfer after United refused to renew their contract.
He is now set to to continue his career in Serie with Cesc Fabregas’ Como signing him as a free agent. According to Fabrizio Romano, the French center-back has penned down a two-year contract with Como till 2026.
There is also an extension option which could see him take his stint with the Serie A side to three years.

Como head coach and former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, lauded Varane for his mentality and experience, adding that he is a good addition to the team with his years of experience in the game.
”We are happy to have Varane. He is a great player, a champion with a winning mentality. His experience will be crucial in helping the team next season,” Fabregas said.
Como’s earnest expectation is staying and possibly finishing strong in the Italy top-flight after securing promotion. Cesc Fabregas ha been credited for his superb performance in the dugout as the club’s manager after transitioning from a player at the club to a full-time manager.
Apart from Raphael Varane, Como have also brought in veteran Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina to keep the sticks for the club next season.
Reina boasts over a decade career, spanning top clubs in Europe such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. He joined Como from Sevilla after his contract with the six-time Europa League champions expired.
