It was a cracker as two South American footballing giants – Brazil and Colombia – lock horns in a thrilling Copa America 2024 final group D clash, MySportDab reports.

Colombia went into the game, having secured a place in the quarter-finals of the tournament with maximum 6 points from their first two group matches. Brazil’s knockout hopes were in the balance as they managed 4 points from a win and a draw in their first group games.

Costa Rica stood a chance of qualifying for the knockout should Brazil lose to Colombia by a good margin while they see off Paraguay.

With a lot to play for against the Group leaders, Brazil quickly got off the mark with a goal by Barcelona winger Raphinha.

The former Leeds United forward scored 12 minutes into the game to give Barcelona the lead.

The lead saw Brazil temporarily overtake Colombia in the top spot in the group. After going down by a lone goal, Colombia stepped up their game in search of an equaliser.

At the last touch of the game in the first half, Munoz got the team back into proceedings, scoring in the 45+2nd minute to peg back the Brazilians to a 1-1 draw.

The goal tied the game on a draw at the break with the Colombians regaining their top spot.

It was a game of a few chances in the second half with both sides unable to find the back of the met.

After a dragging and tight contest, it finally ended 1-1. The draw saw Colombia finished as group winners with 7 points with Brazil joining them in the knockout.

While Costa Rica and Paraguay crashed out from the tournament, Colombia will take on Panama while Brazil trade tackles with Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
