Euro 2024: Portugal 3-0 Slovenia, Diogo Costa Saves Three Penalties In Shootouts [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Portugal defeated Slovenian in dramatic penalty shootout after a barren draw in Euro 2024 round of clash, MySportDab reports.

It was nervy clash between the two sides as they locked horns for a place in the last eight of the tournament. Portugal were the favourites to ace the fixture but it was a difficult game for the star-studded side.

Slovakia put up a formidable showing and were looking set to contest to the final minutes of the game. Meanwhile, Portugal wielded swarth of possession and were making clinical attacking advances into the opponent’s box.

A strongly-contested first half saw both sides unable to draw the first blood as they settled for a dramatic 0-0 draw.

In the second half, Portugal started on the front foot and stepped up proceedings in search of an opener. They came close to drawing the first blood when they won a penalty but Cristiano Ronaldo missed it as Oblak saved it with grit.

It was still barren with a few minutes left to play.  Slovakia held on despite searing pressure by the Portuguese and the game was finally dragged into extra time. It was still a deadlock in extra time as both sides failed to find the back of the net.

The match was finally dragged into penalties where Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa heroed through, saving three spot-kicks as Portugal sailed through with a 3-0 shootout win and progress to the next round of the competition.
