FT: Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United, Martinelli Nets Late Winner [VIDEO]

Arsenal have defeated Manchester United in their pre-season friendly match in the USA, MySportDab reports.

In a stern test of the two team’s chances ahead of the next campaign, Arsenal came out top with a superior performance.

However, it was a priming start to the game for Manchester United. They went into the lead just 10 minutes into the game. Ramsus Hojlund scored the opener for the Manchester-based side but Arsenal were able to fight back immediately.

Gabriel Jesus struck 4 minutes before the half-hour to peg the Erik ten Hag-led side to a 1-1 draw. The first half ended squares as they failed to break the tie going forward.

In the second half, it was nearly a barren run for both sides but Arsenal held threats on both hands with a superior performance.

The Gunners came across a series of chances that would have killed the game but failed to make it count.

Manchester United also gave a good account of themselves, with a series of clinical attacking attempts but failed to break the second-half deadlock.

United had four more attempts than Arsenal but had less of the ball than Arsenal, who clearly dominated proceedings, winning the midfield battle.

The score was still 1-1 with a few minutes left to play. It appeared the two teams would head into penalties to decide the tie before Arsenal finally made their dominance count.

Prolific Brazilian winger, Gabriel Martinelli, scored nine minutes before regulation time to give Arsenal the lead. With a few minutes left to play, Martinelli’s goal was enough to condemn Manchester United to a defeat.

Arsenal have now won their first two matches in the preseason tour. They will take on Liverpool next on Thursday, August 1 while Manchester United will play Real Betis the same day. Watch the Video Highlights Below  HERE
