Newly-promoted Premier League side Southampton are looking to offset their losses with the sale of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, having rejected an initial offer from Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, MySportDab Reports.

The Saints have recently reduced their asking price for the 30-year-old Nigerian striker, who impressed last season while on loan at Trabzonspor under Abdullah Avci.

Onuachu demonstrated his prowess by contributing 19 goals in 21 Turkish Super Lig matches, making him a valuable target for the Turkish club.

Trabzonspor, keen on securing Onuachu’s services once again, have been in discussions with Southampton. However, an agreement has yet to be reached.

Earlier, Trabzonspor made a €6 million bid for Onuachu, which included a 25 percent sell-on clause. Despite their eagerness, Southampton turned down the offer, prompting further negotiations.

According to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale, Southampton have now shown a willingness to negotiate by lowering their valuation of Onuachu. The Premier League club is prepared to sanction the move if Trabzonspor increases their offer to €10 million.

As talks continue, both clubs remain locked in negotiations. Trabzonspor’s desire to re-sign Onuachu reflects his impactful performance last season, and they are working hard to bring him back to their squad.

The outcome of these negotiations will be crucial for both clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Southampton’s decision to reduce the asking price signals their readiness to reach a compromise, and it remains to be seen whether Trabzonspor will meet the revised valuation.

With both parties still engaged in discussions, the fate of Onuachu’s transfer could be decided in the coming days.

For now, the situation remains fluid, and fans will be watching closely to see if the Nigerian striker will return to the Turkish Super Lig or stay in the Premier League with Southampton.
