Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Atletico Madrid to re-sign attacking midfielder Joao Felix, MySportDab reports.
Felix remains in the Atletico Madrid’s chopping blocks despite his brilliant loan campaign with Barcelona last season.
The Portuguese midfield sensation has now emerged as the Blues top target after the club’s deal with Atletico Madrid for Omorodion collapsed in the last hours.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs are now locked in talks for Joao Felix to ensure Conor Gallagher deal goes through and not collapse as Omorodion’s.
“Chelsea and Atlético Madrid are now discussing João Félix to #CFC as part of Gallagher deal!
“Samu Omorodion deal collapsing and the two clubs don’t want Gallagher and Julián Álvarez deals to collapse too…
“João Félix, being discussed with Jorge Mendes in London,” Fabrizio Romano tweets
A deal for Joao Felix could see the 23-year-old return to Chelsea for the second time after he joined the club on a season-long loan deal in the 2022-23 season.
However, MySportDab understands Barcelona are still in the race for the player, who is still out of Diego Simeone’s scheme of things in Spain’s capital.
Now, the La Liga giants are set to face a stiff competition for the player with Chelsea not just making effort to sign him but ensuring Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid goes through.
Fabrizio Romano made it clear that Chelsea are in the move for Felix as part of Gallagher’s deal which may likely collapse as Omorodion’s if the two clubs don’t reach agreement for a player to replace Omorodion
This could also affect Julian Alvarez’s move to Atletico Madrid as well, according to some reports. Atletico Madrid had banked on Omorodion’s exit to bring in Julian Alvarez.
So, it is assumed the Julian Alvarez deal is also at risk it the club don’t find a permanent exit solution for Omorodion this summer.
