Erling Haaland was on target as Chelsea lost 0-2 to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the opening game of the season, MySportDab reports.
The home side did show a lot of improvement but also struggled to make their opportunities count when it came to them.
Mateo Kovacic was also on target as he came back to haunt his former team on their home ground in a massive game.
First Half Report
Both Enzo Maresca and Pep Guardiola had deployed a dominance strategy that saw them playing possessive football against themselves.
Chelsea did well enough adapting quickly against the Champions as they looked sharp pushing forward and also holding their ground.
It was brilliant for the Champions Manchester City who continued making sure the game was in their control until Erling Haaland scored in the 18th minute.
The Champions took a 1-0 lead after the wonderful goal which was set up by Bernardo Silva ensuring things between them were different as they continued.
No goal came with Chelsea coming the closest to making something happen but failed as Manchester City took a 0-1 lead after 45 minutes of action.
Second Half Report
Both teams reported into the pitch for the second half which was still evenly balanced between both teams who carried on pushing.
Chelsea was under pressure to make sure they responded as things continued with them unable to make it count immediately as the match progressed.
Manchester City had better control of ball possession in the second half which they created opportunities with Robert Sanchez making some saves.
Mateo Kovacic scored in the 84th minute making sure the scoreline increased to 0-2 with an outstanding finish to make things worse for the home side.
It was an opening day defeat for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca who start the season with a 0-2 loss at home against Manchester City who are the Champions of the League.
