Austin Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed that the new Super Eagles coach will be announced by the end of next week, MySportDab Reports.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja following a series of deliberations by the NFF Technical Committee, Eguavoen provided an update on the ongoing process to appoint a new head coach for the national team.

“We have not concluded on all the necessary things we need to do before the announcement of the new coach,” Eguavoen stated. “I believe between now and next weekend, we will let Nigerians know who the new Super Eagles coach is.”

The announcement of the new coach comes at a critical time as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The team is set to face Benin on September 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. This match will mark the beginning of their qualification campaign for the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Following the home fixture against Benin, the Super Eagles will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to face the Rwandan national team three days later on September 10.

These matches are crucial for Nigeria as they aim to secure their place in the prestigious continental tournament.

The search for a new head coach has been a focal point for the NFF, with the decision expected to have significant implications for the future direction of the Super Eagles.

Fans and stakeholders eagerly await the announcement, hoping that the new coach will bring fresh ideas and success to the national team as they embark on their journey to the 2025 AFCON.
