Austin Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed that the new Super Eagles coach will be announced by the end of next week, MySportDab Reports.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja following a series of deliberations by the NFF Technical Committee, Eguavoen provided an update on the ongoing process to appoint a new head coach for the national team.
“We have not concluded on all the necessary things we need to do before the announcement of the new coach,” Eguavoen stated. “I believe between now and next weekend, we will let Nigerians know who the new Super Eagles coach is.”
The announcement of the new coach comes at a critical time as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team is set to face Benin on September 7 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. This match will mark the beginning of their qualification campaign for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
Following the home fixture against Benin, the Super Eagles will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to face the Rwandan national team three days later on September 10.
