Sevilla have announced the signing of Nigeria international and Manchester City Academy graduate, Kelechi Iheanacho, MySportDab reports.

In footages shared on the club’s social media handle, the La Liga club confirmed the signing of the prolific attacker.

Iheanacho joins the Seville-based outfit from Leicester City after leaving the latter as free agent. He is reportedly expected to lead the club’s attack following the exit of Moroccan forward En-Nesyri to Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the 27-year-old has penned down a two-year contract with Sevilla until 2026.

He is the second Nigerian footballer to join the La Liga outfit this summer after Ejuke Chidera also signed from Belgian side Royal Antwerp.

Iheanacho left Leicester City after seven seasons with the Premier League club. He joined the club in 2017 from Manchester City and had scored 61 goals in 232 appearances.

He played a crucial role in the club’s milestone triumph in the FA Cup.

His last season with Leicester City was marred with injuries which saw him drop down the pecking in the then-manager Enzo Maresca’s attacking options.

However, he was able to score five times, providing one assist in 23 Championship appearances as the Foxes fought back to the English top flight i
on their first attempt.

He also scored and assisted in the club’s EFL Cup campaign. Leicester City reportedly offered Iheanacho a new contract but he turned down the offer to seek greener pastures elsewhere.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Wilfred Ndidi has penned down a new deal with the Foxes and continue his career with the 2016 Premier League champions.

Iheanacho will hope to stay on top of his game as he takes up a new challenge with Sevilla in the La Liga top flight next season.
