Manchester City defensive midfielder Rodri leads the list of Premier League players that have been nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award, MySportDab reports.
Rodri starred for City and Spain in 2024, helping the club to a fourth consecutive Premier League title and winning Euro 2024 with Spain national team.
The Spaniard has been a regular name on the Ballon d’Or nominees’ list and is expected to stage a formidable challenge for the coveted award this year.
Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is another Premier League player that has been nominated for the award following his remarkable debut season with Chelsea in the English top flight.
The England attacking midfielder scored 22 league goals with 11 assists in 33 Premier League appearances for Chelsea.
He played a bit-part role in England’s run up to the final of 2024 Euros but was impressive each time he puts on a shift with the team.
Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland, who finished in the top three in the 2023 edition of the award, has also been nominated again.
Haaland won the Premier League Golden Boot with Manchester City last season after his 27-goal haul for City. He also scored six Champions League goals in nine matches.
Arsenal star Declan Rice has also made the cut after his impressive outing with Arsenal in the 2023-24 Premier League season and England in the 2024 Euros
His teammates Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have also made the list, including the team’s captain and Norway international Martin Odegaard.
Other Premier League players in contention for the award are Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, Ruben Dias of Manchester City and Phil Foden of Manchester City.
