Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed the team will miss a key player ahead of their Premier League matchday five clash, MySportDab reports.

The Reds will return to Premier League action on Saturday, September 21, 2024, against Bournemouth after roaring back to winning ways in midweek 2024/25 UEFA Champions League opener against AC Milan in San Siro.

The Merseyside side made it a perfect start in their first three games of this season before stumbling to a shock home defeat against Nottingham Forest at Anfield last week.

England forward Callum Hodson-Odoi scored the match-winner and only goal of the game as the Tricky Trees secured an unlikely victory at the curved arch of Anfield for the first time since 1969.

However, the Arne Slot-led team was able to weather the shock defeat and edged out AC Milan in the midweek.

Away from the loss to Nottingham Forest, the Reds will be hoping to return to winning ways on the domestic scene when taking in Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth.

Confirming his squad update ahead of the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said the club will miss a key player ahead of the match.

According to the Dutchman, the Red’s No.1 shot-stopper, Alisson Becker, is a serious doubt for the game.

“Alisson is a serious doubt for the game. But we cannot ascertain whether he will be out or not. Further updates on his fitness will determine that,” Slot said.

Alisson Becker has retained his spot as the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper under Slot. He has started the club’s Premier League games and was in goal in the 3-1 Champions League win over AC Milan.

Becker is not the only player Liverpool are likely to miss in the clash against Bournemouth. Harvey Elliot, who picked up an injury during the international break, is also set to miss the match.

Liverpool are fourth on the Premier League table with nine points after four rounds of games. Slot will be hoping to keep the team in the top cadre of clubs likely to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
