Barcelona are planning on going into negotiation for new Frenkie De Jong contract with the club, MySportDab reports.
The midfielder have been one who suffer more injury in the team despite earning one of the biggest pay.
Frenkie De Jong time with Barcelona have also been put under so much pressure with talks of the player being offered to numerous clubs.
Manchester United are one of those teams who have shown interest on the Netherlands midfielder for a long time.
The player current contract will expire in 2026 which would put him on the market as a free agent to join any club.
Other team’s have also monitored the situation, but what remain to be the major issue is the player salary which is massive.
According to Transfer News Live, they confirmed talk will soon take place concerning a new deal which would lower the player salary.

“Barcelona want to try and renew Frenkie De Jong’s contract and will try to lower his salary.
“Manchester United were never a real option for him as the priority for them was Manuel Ugarte.
The move by Barcelona is seen as a crazy one but there is yet to be seen of what could happen when negotiation starts.
Frenkie De Jong have been out injured since last season which has been his major problem with the club where he has constantly miss so much action through injuries.
