David Raya saved Mateo Retegui’s penalty as Arsenal drew 0-0 against Atalanta in their opening Champions League match, MySportDab reports.
Both teams had the same energy making sure they matched each other for everything they had to offer both attacking and defending.
David Raya was the difference in the match which could have easily ended up with a loss for Mikel Arteta’s side for the night.
First Half Report
It was a night filled with action and some dramatic moments which played out between both teams in Italy for Champions League football.
Arsenal started well as they contained everything making sure they were able to see more of the ball moving forward for the night.
It wasn’t easy for Atalanta who had their star player Ademola Lookman running around the opponent’s defense which was on lockdown.
It was an end-to-end first half which saw more action coming but no side could see themselves taking the lead as everything progressed further.
Atalanta and Arsenal were both in the match as they couldn’t change things with the scoreline staying 0-0 between the both of them.
Second Half Report
It was fair enough from both ends which saw so many opportunities from the opening half but none could result in a goal.
Atalanta had their moment in the 51st minute but Mateo Retegui couldn’t convert from the penalty spot including his follow-up didn’t get a goal.
Arsenal had David Raya to thank as his double save made sure the Gunners were very much in the match as things carried on between them.
No goal was recorded as of 80 minutes with both of them making sure their defending was perfect knowing there wasn’t much time on the clock.
The scoreline stayed the same until the end as Atalanta and Arsenal played out a 0-0 goalless draw in their Champions League opening match.
