FT: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Real Madrid, Angel Correa Nets Late Equalizer [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Real Madrid have missed out on a chance to close up on Barcelona in the La Liga title, MySportDab reports.

The Los Blancos settled for a goalless draw in a fiery La Liga clash against City and arch-domestic rivals Atletico Madrid at the Civita Metropolitano.

The ill-tempered clash saw the two sides battled earnestly for all three points before finally sharing spoils.

Chances were created in the first half but there was no goal breakthrough. At the break it ended barren after the missed chances.

Real Madrid finally broke the deadlock four minutes after the hour mark. Vinicius Jr provided the assist for the goal. The Brazilian delivered the ball to the back post and Eder Militao was in place to poke it home from close range.

After Real Madrid took the lead, Atletico Madrid fans started throwing objects at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

It got worse and the game had to be suspended for 20 minutes with Atletico Madrid players and the head coach Diego Simeone pleading with the fans to stop.

After 20 minutes, calm was restored the game kicking off again. Real Madrid nearly raced to the finish line with the narrow 1-0 lead but were pegged back to a draw at the death.

Angel Correa netted the equalizer for the home side. Correa latched on a throughball from Galan, rounded Thibaut Courtois and then found the back of the net to make it 1-1.

The game ended with the two teams sharing spoils after a fiery and strongly-contested clash. The draw has seen Atletico Madrid maintain their unbeaten start to the season while Real Madrid stay second in the La Liga table with 18 points, three points away from league leaders Barcelona.
