Liverpool have been inflicted with their first defeat of the Premier League season by an unlikely opponents Nottingham Forest, MySportDab reports.
The Reds went into the game as big favourites, playing in front of their home fans and having won all three Premier League games in the season.
However, the Nuno Espirito-led side have shown what they are capable, pulling an incredible victory at Anfield for the first time in decades.
Liverpool started the game in the front foot but a profligate attack saw the team squander some glaring chances that would have turned the game in their favor.
Nottingham Forest’s gameplan was perfect; sitting back to defend while hoping to catch the hosts on quick counter attacks.
The strategic gameplan paid off as they frustrated the Reds’ attack at the back while threatening with quick offensives. The first half ended barren with both sides unable to find the back of the net.
The game continued on a similar tempo in the second half with Liverpool commandingly dominating proceedings but it was still a deadlock.
Mohamed Salah came close to giving the Reds the lead but his right-footed low shot was pointed away by Nottingham Forest goalkeeper.
In the 72nd minute, Nottingham Forest finally broke even against the run of play. Callum Hudson-Odoi, scored a perfectly curled strike from the left to fire the Tricky Trees into an unlikely lead.
Trailing by a lone goal, Liverpool ramped up proceedings to find an equaliser but their countless efforts failed to yield results.
Nottingham Forest committed more bodies to the defense and successfully thwarted offensives by the hosts.
At the blast of the final whistle, it was the visitors running out with an unlikely victory at Anfield for the first time since 1969.
The win ended Arne Slot and Liverpool’s perfect start to the campaign and it is the first time they have conceded a goal this season, having won all their three matches with clean sheets.
