Manchester United have been held to a goalless draw by Dutch side FC Twente in their 2024-25 Europa League opener at Old Trafford, MySportDab reports.
In what could be seen as a disappointing start to their European campaign, the Red Devils settled for a 1-1 draw with the visitors.
They started the game on the front foot and were looking set to coast to a deserved victory. Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for the Ten Hag-led side in the 35th minute and the goal was enough to fire the team into the lead at the break.
Nothing changed in the second half. United looked set to secure the win with their dominant performance.
However, a 68th-minute breakthrough by Lammers saw FC Twente level the score against the run of the play.
Pegged back to a dramatic 1-1 draw, the team ramped up proceedings to take the lead again but failed to find a breakthrough.
A late push for another goal in the second half failed to yield results, with the team finally settling for a dramatic 1-1 draw after the final whistle.
It was an absolutely disappointing night for United at Old Trafford with the underrated Dutch club running away with a point at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, the club will hope to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in the Premier League at the weekend.
After the Tottenham match, they will travel to Portugal to take on Primeira Liga giants FC Porto in their second Europa League fixture on Thursday, October 3, 2034.
