Arsenal have been dealt a devastating blow ahead of their North London Derby with their captain Martin Odegaard suffering a gruesome injury nightmare, MySportDab reports.

In footage we have shared in this post, Norway were tied to a 1-1 draw against Austria when Odegaard collided with Christoph Buamgartner.

He got his foot stuck to the turf, twisted his ankle, and fell awkwardly fo the ground. It wasn’t looking good for the midfielder as he curled up in pain, and had to be quickly attended do by Norway medics before being hurled off in the 66th minutes.

There have been fears of another lengthy injury layoff for the footballer after he missed five matches for Arsenal last due to a hip problem.

Speaking after the game, Norway head coach Stale Solbakken affirmed fears of concerned fans as he confirmed that Odegaard’s injury wasn’t looking good in the dressing room.

“Martin Odegaard’s injury looks bad in the dressing room,” Solbakken said.

However, Norway medic Ola Sand offered a glimmer of hope when he said the player sustained a minor ankle sprain.

Sand added that a scan will be conducted on the injury to determine its severity, timeline for his rehabilitation, recovery, and return to to action.

“He got a small ankle sprain. We will see; maybe we can use ultrasound to look at it,” Sand said.

“If we are unsure, there will be an MRI tomorrow,” he added.

Odegaard has an history of short injury challenges throughout his career. He missed action for Arsenal last season due to a hip problem.

While fans await further updates on the situation, it is not likely he will return to action for Arsenal in the North London Derby at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly gotten into contact with Norway to work together for a speedy recovery of the player. He will travel back to London for a full medical attention by Arsenal medics.

Odegaard started all Arsenal’s three opening matches this season and was expected to play a big role as Arsenal stage a challenge  for the Premier League title again.

His potential absence from the Tottenham match means Arsenal will miss a midfield trio, comprising Odegaard, Mikel Merino (sidelined due to injury), and Declan Rice (red card suspension) in the game.
