La Liga president confirmed the move for Nico Williams to Barcelona was on the go during the summer window, MySportDab reports.
The Athletico Bilbao man was close to making the move to New Camp during the summer window which just closed.
Nico Williams became a huge target for Barcelona and Lagliga president can also confirm a deal was on the table.
Numerous teams including those from the Premier League also monitored the deal which none approached Chelsea.
The deal failed to happen for many reasons mostly for Barcelona who were the closest to almost getting things completed.
According to Fabrizio Romano, he confirmed what was said by Laliga president concerning the Nico Williams’s move to Barcelona.

“Nico Williams was wanted by Barça but they couldn’t sign him”.
“I am very happy that he is still at Athletic Club and that he is still in Spain”.
“I’m glad to see it, gives competitiveness to the competition and it gives a sense of belonging”.
Despite the deal not happening, there is still some possibility of something coming through in the January window.
For now, Nico Williams is still staying put at Athletico Bilbao who wants to keep him for as long as they can.
