Victor Boniface Reflects on Champions League Debut

Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has expressed his joy after making his UEFA Champions League debut during his team’s commanding 4-0 win over Feyenoord on Thursday, MySportDab Reports.

Boniface, who played a significant role in Leverkusen’s attack, took to social media to reflect on his journey from a young fan to a Champions League player.

The 23-year-old recalled how he used to pay N30 to watch Champions League matches back in Akure, Nigeria, and now finds himself living the dream on Europe’s biggest football stage.

“From paying 30 naira to watch the Champions League… to playing my first Champions League game. Proud of this moment,” Boniface posted on his X handle.

Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2023 from Belgian club Union SG in a deal worth over €21.7 million. Since his arrival, the Nigerian forward has quickly become an important part of Leverkusen’s attacking force.

The victory against Feyenoord gave Leverkusen a perfect start to their Champions League campaign, and Boniface will be looking to carry that momentum into domestic competitions.

Leverkusen, the reigning Bundesliga champions, are set to host Wolfsburg on Sunday as they aim to defend their title and continue their quest for success both in Germany and Europe.
