Aitana Bonmati has clinched the 2024 Women’s Ballon d’Or award as the best female footballer in 2024, MySportDab reports.
The highly-rated forward recorded a swashbuckling 2023-24 campaign for both club and country and was tipped to clinch the award from the start.
Her sublime heroics in the year began with 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup victory with Spain Women’s national team.
The Barcelona star scored three goals and assisted four times as the team roared to the final of the competition and secure victory.
Away from the international scene, Aitana Bonmati had a terrific club campaign with Barcelona women. She scored 11 La Liga goals with eight assists to lead Barcelona to the 2023-24 La Liga triumph.
She also played a crucial role in the team’s route to winning the 2023-24 UEFA Women’s Champions League. She also won the Spanish Women’s Super Cup and the Copa de la Reina.
The standout performances saw her emerged as the top favourite for the award beating other top Challengers to the coveted women’s award.
