Antony IN CRUTCHES After Grim Injury Vs Fenerbache

Manchester United have been dealt a further injury blow with Antony now added to the Red Devils’ piling list of injured players, MySportDab reports.

The Brazilian winger was seen leaving the stadium on crutches following his injury on the pitch during the club’s 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce on Thursday.

The injury mounts misery on Manchester United, who now have several big names sidelined.

Antony’s injury will serve as a big headache for United boss Erik Ten Hag, whose team are still yet to win a single game in the ongoing UEFA Europa League campaign and sit 21st in the competition’s ranking, facing real danger of not securing automatic qualification.

The Red Devils have previously played out 1-1 and 3-3 draws in the competition against FC Twente and Porto respectively, and were looking to grab their first win in the tournament ahead of Thursday’s tie against Fenerbache.

Christian Eriksen got the visitors off to a flying start, finishing brilliantly from a Joshua Zirkzee pass in the 15th minute, United couldn’t see out the game with the lead however, Youssef En-Nesyri drew Fenerbahce level shortly after the break.

Antony was brought in during the 73rd minute in a bid to change the tide in United’s favour but lasted just 16 minutes on the pitch before coming off on a stretcher due to discomfort.

Images taken at the end of the game have revealed the injury might be more severe than previously considered, as the Brazilian was seen leaving the pitch with crutches and a protective boot.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag admitted he felt sorry for the winger: ”It’s really unlucky for him,’ he stated. ‘I feel real compassion for him when he worked so hard in training.”

“His training performances are so good that he deserved to come on. When you have to come off so quickly, that is really sad to see. Hopefully, it’s not too bad, we have to wait 24 hours for what the assessment is.” he added.

Antony has struggled to adapt to life in England since signing back in the summer of 2022, scoring just 12 goals and assisting another five in all competitions for the Red Devils.

He has made just one start this season for the club, starting in the Carabao third-round win against Barnsley.
