FT: Fenerbache 1-1 Manchester United, Christian Eriksen STRIKES! [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

Manchester United settled for a third consecutive draw in the Europa League in a seething clash against Turkish giants, Fenerbache, MySportDab reports.

Goals from Christian Eriksen Eriksen and En-Nesyri ensured the two sides shared spoils in the heated Europa League clash in Istanbul.

United went into the game on the back of two consecutive draws in the competition and needed victory against the Turkish opponents but it turned out to be their toughest fixture in the competition.

Fenerbache dominated proceedings from start to finish. The first 12 minutes of the game saw the hosts control over 60% of the ball with much of the action in the United’s box.

However, the Red Devils were able to steal their way and race into the lead against the run of play in the 15th minute.

Their first attacking foray after breaking off the chains of Fenerbache’s pressure resulted in the goal. Alejandro Garnacho led the charge after charging down the left to find Noussair Mazraoui, who then passed to Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee had a chance to fire on goal from inside the box but laid it off to an on-rushing Christian Eriksen, who finished clinically with a first-time strike to give United the lead.

United’s goal only served to heighten the pressure on the team as Fenerbache ramped up pressure to find the equalizer.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana heroed through on goal for the Red Devils, making multiple stunning saves to preserve United’s lead until the break.

In the second half, Fenerbache finally broke the deadlock. En-Nesyri, who was denied twice in the first half, finally netted the equalizer with a brilliant header.

With the score tied at 1-1, Fenerbache intensified efforts to complete the comeback but United were up to the task as they defended hard to secure a point in the game.

The draw has seen United continue their wait for their win in the Europa League this season. They will return to action at the weekend in the Premier League against West Ham United with their next Europa League match being a home fixture against POAK on Thursday, November 7, 2024.  Watch Video Highlights on YouTube
