Manchester United’s poor start to the season continued at London Stadium with West Ham United condemning the Erik ten Hag-led side to their 4th defeat of the season, MySportDab reports.
United went to the game at the back of a dismal start to the campaign and needed victory to restore fans’ confidence.
West Ham United recorded a not-so-stellar start to the campaign as well under new manager Steve Cooper and equally needed victory to kept their campaign back in track.
It was a tight affair from the start with both sides unable to get past the other. Manchester United registered a slew of chances but could not make it count.
The hosts also had some chances but blew them out and the first half ended on a barren note with the two sides unable to find the back of the net.
The game took a more frantic pace in the second half as both sides pressed to get ahead. West Ham United finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute through Summerville.
The goal nearly saw the home side raced to the finish line with a lead but Casemiro came up clutch for United, scoring nine minutes before regulation time to peg the Hammers to a 1-1 draw.
United were close to sharing spoils with the away side but conceded a late penalty in the final minutes of the game.
Jarrow Bowen made no mistake, converting it with ease to fire the home side into the lead again.
Bowen’s late strike was enough to see West Ham United condemn Manchester United to their 4th defeat in the season.
