Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has won the 2024 Ballon d’Or Gerd Muller Award, MySportDab reports.
The Award honors the best striker in the said year based on the number of goals scored by the player for both club and country.
Kane finished the 2023-24 football season as joint-top scorer with France and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe.
The both scored 52 goals, comprising 44 goals for their respective clubs and 8 for their national teams. The award, which was in its fourth edition has only produced two winners – Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe – with Harry Kane the third on the list.
Robert Lewandowski won the inaugural edition in 2021 and defended it in 2022 before Kylian Mbappe clinched it in 2023.
Notably, Harry Kane is clinching the award as a joint-winner with Kylian Mbappe since they were tied on 52 goals in the 2023-24 football season.
However, since Kylian Mbappe was not present at the award ceremony due to Real Madrid’s decision to boycott the award, Harry Kane was the only player handed the coveted laurel.
Kane took his game to new levels following his move to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
He scored week-in and week-out for the Bundesliga giants, breaking old records and setting new ones. He also starred for England at the international scene, playing a crucial role as the team reached the finals of the 2024 Euros.
The sensational forward will hope to continue on his brilliant performances for both club and country, having added the coveted laurel to his collection of individual honors.
