BREAKING! Manchester United Sack Erik ten Hag!

Manchester United have parted ways with their manager Erik Ten Have following his disappointing campaign with the team this season, MySportDab reports.

The club confirmed the decision to relieve the former Ajax boss of his role as the club’s manager in a club statement which reads;

“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.”

Ten Hag’s assistant manager Ruud Van Nistelroy is expected to take charge of the team in the interim until a new manager is appointed.

United’s decision to part ways with Erik ten Hag is coming just two months after the club decided to renew his contract.

Following a lengthy review by the club’s new co-owners, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the former Ajax boss was offered a new two-year contract.

However, MySportDab understands the deal was more of a grudging move to keep the 56-year-old after an unconvincing and inconsistent campaign in the 2023-24 season.

Although he turned a corner at the end of the campaign, defeating Manchester City at Wembley to win the FA Cup – his second trophy in two seasons – a largely underwhelming Premier League campaign overshadowed the Wembley triumph.

United finished the season in eighth place on the Premier League, crashing out of all European slots on the rankings before salvaging a Europa League spot with the FA Cup triumph.

Also, Erik ten Hag recorded a disastrous campaign in Europe that season, leading United to their worst UEFA Champions League campaign in decades.

The team finished bottom of their group, becoming the first teammate to concede 18 goals in the group stages of the competition.

This and other harrowing records saw Ten Hag lose the confidence of the fans and the club’s hierarchy. However, he was still able to sail through and land the new two-year contract at the end of the season.

It is understood United’s decision to make a U-turn and sack the Dutchman is linked to what has been his poorest start to the ongoing 2024-25 season.

Under his watch, United are 14th on the Premier League table with just 11 points from 9 games. The have lost four matches, win three, and drew 2

In Europe, all three matches in the Europa League have ended in a draw with the team sitting 21st on the rankings.
