Al-Hilal To Terminate Neymar’s Contract After Injury Blow

Saudi club Al-Hilal are reportedly set to terminate Neymar’s contract following his injury crisis, MySportDab reports.

Neymar joined Al-Hilal on a swashbuckling deal worth £130m per year from PSG. The Saudi champions forked out £78m to PSG to sign the footballing sensation.

Joining the club as the most expensive transfer signing, Neymar has lived below the billing.

A few months after completing a move to the club, he picked up an ACL injury in October 2023 which ruled him out of action for the entire season.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, he was back in action for the club this season and was used as a substitute in Al-Hilal’s AFC Champions League match against Esteghal on Tuesday.

Subbed on in the 53rd minute, he could only put on a 24-minute shift before going down with another leg injury, leading to him being hurled off.

Reacting to the injury on his social media handle, Neymar played down the incident, insisting it was just a cramp.

However, Brazilian outlet, UOL, says Al-Hilal are considering ending their contract with him due to the incessant injury blow.

The report adds the club are ready to part ways with the 33-year-old as early as January 2024 with proceedings to end his contract taking center stage.

Neymar has only made six appearances for the club since joining in 2023 with nothing to show for his jumbo yearly salary.

His contract will expire at the end of the current campaign and it is understood the club is not ready to renew it.

He has been linked to a move to Inter Miami in the MLS where he could reunite with his former Barcelona teammates.

Some reports claim the footballer has even purchased a home in Miami in anticipation of the switch to the Florida-based outfit.
