AFCONQ25: Benin 1-1 Nigeria, Osimhen Rescue Super Eagles (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Victor Osimhen second half goal was enough as the Super Eagles of Nigeria earned a 1-1 draw against Benin, MySportDab statements. 

It was a hard game which saw rain making it more difficult to navigate for both teams who did manage to make the most.

The Super Eagles already booked their place at the AFCON 2025 tournament as group leader after the encounter.

It was a good start which saw both national team’s putting on some solid display in search of an opportunity very early.

Nigeria dominated play as many expected them to do, but it was a struggle putting their chances into something tangible for themselves.

Benin maintained composure going forward before they were able to get themselves in front from what could be tagged as a howler from Nwabali.

Mohammed Tijani gave the home side the lead in the 16th minute making sure they were ahead 1-0 as the match carried on for them.

There was nothing the Super Eagles could fix together as they bowed into the break behind 1-0 against the home side who were good.

Some changes were done coming into the second half which saw some different approach being taken going forward.

Benin were good with their lead as their plan was come in and make sure they kept things in their favor no matter the pressure.

The Nigeria national team continued asking all the questions, but nothing was happening for them with numerous opportunities.

The game continued until the 81st minute which saw Victor Osimhen coming to the rescue with a header ensuring the game became level 1-1.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria could only manage to get one point as the game ended with a 1-1 result which meant both teams gained something.

For Nigeria they already have their place booked at the AFCON while for Benin they need to beat Libya to qualify without worrying what Rwanda plays.
