Tottenham Hotspur have secured a shock Premier League victory over defending champions Manchester City at the Etihad, MySportDab reports.
The Lilywhites sealed a back-to-back victory over the Premier League giants after 3-2 EFL Cup victory at home in their earlier matchup this season.
James Maddison stole the spotlights in the game, scoring a quickfire brace in the space of seven minutes to pave the away for a statement victory for the Ange Postecoglou-led side.
Meanwhile, City had started the game on a strong footing, building pressure from the kickoff and looking set to take the lead.
However, the seven-minute attacking classic by the away side capped with a superb effort by Maddison put the hosts to the sword.
Dejan Kulusevski setup Maddison for the first goal, beating John Stones with a curled cross from the right.
Left unmarked, an on-rushing Maddison delivered a first-time left-footed finish past Ederson to give the away side the lead.
Seven minutes later, a poor pass by Gvardiol was intercepted by Maddison, who then pass to Heung-Min Son.
Surrounding by several bodies of City players in the box, Son beat the crowd and pass back to James Maddison, who floored Ederson again with a lobbed finish into the back of the net.
The two goals made the difference at the break with Spurs winning 2-0.
Nothing changed in the second half. City ramped up attempts to halve the deficit and possibly find an equalizer all to no avail.
To cap a night of another disappointing outing for the Cityzens, Spurs scored the third to race to a 3-0 lead.
After winning possession in their own half, the visitors had proceeded on a quick counter, thanks to Dejan Kulusevski’s brilliant foray which resulted in Pedro Porro firing a thunderbolt into the roof of the net inside the box in the 53rd minute.
And that’s was not all; substitute Brennan Johnson scored deep into extra time to add to deepen the loss and condemn City to a shock 4-0 home defeat.
The Guardiola-led side have now lost five consecutive matches in all competitions and will fall eight points behind Liverpool at the top of the table if the Reds win their fixture against Southampton on Sunday.
