Pep Guardiola has reached an agreement with Manchester City for a new contract, MySportDab reports.

The Spaniard, who has led the club to 18 trophies in his nine-year spell, was set to run out of his contract at the end of the season.

Speaking after leading the club to his 6th Premier League title, Guardiola left interrogators in the dark, per his future at the club.

According to him, he was closer to leaving the club than staying but was open to talks with the club’s hierarchy.

Now, according to Football Insider, Guardiola has reached an agreement in principle with Manchester City to extend his contract by one-year.

This means the Spaniard will still be in the dugout as City’s manager next season. The commitment to a new deal will see Guardiola extend his stay with Manchester City to 10 years.

The 54-year-old joined the club from Bayern Munich in 2016 and has overseen the most successful era in the club’s history.

Under his watch, Manchester City Habs won six Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 4 EFL Cups, 3 Community Shields, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup.

Meanwhile, City had reportedly began the hunt for a replacement for the two-time treble winner with scores of high-profile managers targeted.

Guardiola has established himself as one of the best and most successful managers in Premier League history with analysts ranking him in the class of legendary names such as Sir Alex Ferguson.

He will be hoping to lead City to the England Championship this season despite falling five points behind table-toppers Liverpool.
