Real Madrid have confirmed an update on Eder Militao’s injury blow, MySportDab reports.
The Brazilian defender was in action for Los Blancos during their 4-0 win over Osasuna in La Liga.
Trying to win the ball in Osasuna’s half, he fell to the ground by himself without a challenge and clutched to his knee.
And that would be the end of his game as he had to be stretchered off the field after it was evident he couldn’t continue the match.
There have been reports the player may be out of the rest of the season following the injury blow.
Now, Real Madrid have confirmed an update on the blow. Los Blancos club statement confirmed Militao ruptured his ligament after he awkwardly missed his steps and fell to the ground at Santiago Bernabeu.
The statement added he is expected to undergo surgery due to the injury and then his rehabilitation.
Notably, the club did not specify when Eder Militao will be back in action. However, reports from Spanish outlets close to the club’s medical department reveal he may be ruled out of action for the rest of the season.
It is the second time Eder Militao has suffered an ACL injury at Real Madrid. He picked up a similar issue last season and missed a large quantum of the campaign, playing only 10 La Liga matches.
He now joins the piling list of Real Madrid’s injured players featuring Rodrygo, Dani Carvajal, and others.
More worrying for the Los Blancos fans is that Militao will be the second Real Madrid defender to be ruled out for the rest of the season.
The club lost Euro-winning Spanish defender Dani Carvajal to a season-ending injury early in the season and have suffered a drop-off recently at the domestic and European scene.
Before his injury, Militao played all of Real Madrid’s 12 La Liga matches, scoring one goal with an assist.
He also featured in the club’s all four Champions League matches and has been integral to the Los Blancos’ setup under Carlo Ancelotti.
