Super Falcons Draw Tough Group B for 2024 WAFCON in Morocco

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been drawn into a challenging Group B for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025, MySportDab reports.

The draw, held at the Mohamed VI Football Complex in Sale, placed Nigeria alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.

Tunisia, quarter-finalists in the last WAFCON, are expected to provide stiff competition for the Super Falcons. Algeria, who recently lost twice to Nigeria in friendly matches with scores of 2-0 and 4-1, will be eager to test their mettle once again.

Meanwhile, Botswana, who impressed in the qualifiers by knocking out Gabon, could present a surprise challenge in what promises to be an intense group stage.

The Super Falcons are the most successful team in the history of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, having participated in every edition since its inception in 1998 and lifting the trophy a record nine times.

However, they will be looking to improve on their performance in the last tournament, where they finished fourth after a loss to Zambia in the bronze medal match.

Elsewhere, hosts Morocco will face Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo in Group A, while defending champions South Africa have been drawn against Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania in Group C.

With the ambition of winning a historic 10th WAFCON title, the Super Falcons are determined to reassert their dominance in African women’s football.

Featuring a blend of experienced players and rising stars, the team is ready to deliver a strong campaign and reignite their championship pedigree in Morocco.
