Manchester United new manager Ruben Amorim kicked off his reign with a disappointing 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday, MySportDab reports.

A fiery start to the game saw United went in front just 80 seconds after Marcus Rashford poked home Amad Diallo’s brilliant cross from the right.

It was a magical and flying start for the Portuguese which boosted fans confidence and hopes that he has gotten it right at the go.

However, what followed was a run of lackadaisical performance that showed the glaring cracks and needed fixes in the team have yet to be patched.

18th-placed Ipswich Town, buoyed by a shock away win over Spurs in their last match before the break, broke off their shells after conceding and bundled proceedings with a touch of flair and confidence that defies expectation, leaving United at the mercy of countless offensives.

United goalkeeper Andre Onana was forced into series of brilliant saves to tame the tides of offensives and preserve United’s lead.

However, the hosts finally broke the deadlock when Omari Hutchinson’s curled effort from outside the box deflected off the head of Noussair Mazraoui and curved into the back of the net.

It was a deserved equalizer for the Kieran McKenna-led side after a marathon of pressure on the hastily-assembled squad under Amorim.

After Hutchinson’s equalizer, the hosts went on to dominate the game than before with United struggling to find their balance.

Away from the flaws of the former manager Erik ten Hag’s era, it was evident United are still far from breaking even and new manager Ruben Amorim did not mince as he affirmed the lapses.

Speaking after the game, Amorim said it will take a long time for him to get it right at United.

“I know it is frustrating for the fans but we are changing so much in this moment with a lot of games,” he said

“We are going to suffer for a long period. We will try to win games but this will take time. We have to risk it a little bit [now] and in the next year we will be better [otherwise] next year at the same stage we will be here with the same problems,” he added.

Away from the deadlock at Portman Road, Amorim will have a chance to return Man United to winning ways when he hosts Bodo/Glimt in 2024/25 Europa League matchday five clash on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
