Manchester United have submitted an offer for PSG left-back Nuno Mendes, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils have stepped up their move for the 22-year-old as effort to find a left-back for new manager Ruben Amorim intensifies.

With Luke Shaw injured and Diogo Dalot not living up to the bidding, United had concluded plans to secure a left-back to suit into Amorim’s signature three-man defense.

Mendes has emerged as a priority target for the role with RMC Sports now confirming an offer has been made for the player.

However, the report didn’t disclose whether the offer has been made to the player or PSG and it’s understood the Old Trafford club may find it difficult to pull through a deal for the player.

Mendes is contracted to PSG till 2026 and is considered key in the club’s plan under Luis Enrique.

Sources close to the club have revealed a new contract offer has been table for the Portuguese but he has turned down the offer.

The club are still expected to table another offer and are reportedly not ready to part ways with the player.

Meanwhile, United are ready for a January move for Mendes and are hopeful of leveraging the contract standoff to secure the services of the defender.

Mendes has one assist in 9 Ligue 1 appearances and has a goal in six Champions League appearances for PSG this season.

He joined PSG from Sporting  Lisbon in 2022 and was coached and tutored into a full-blown professional footballer under Ruben Amorim from 2019 to 2022.

A move to United could see the 22-year-old reunite with the Portuguese boss. Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether his decision to turn down PSG’s new contract is related to his desire to leave or a just a push for improved contract terms with the Ligue 1 giants.
