Victor Osimhen has broken his silence on not congratulating his Nigeria Super Eagles teammate and 2024 CAF POTY Award winner Ademola Lookman, MySportDab reports.
The on-loan Napoli sensation, who is plying his trade in Turkey Super Lig with Galatasaray, came under wires for not congratulating Lookman after the CAF Awards.
Lookman was flustered with tributes from his Super Eagles teammates after emerging the winner of the prestigious individual honor in African football with Osimhen missing from the list of players sending in their goodwill.
Hours elapsed and nothing was heard or seen from the 2022 Serie A winner. Instead, he flaunted his newly-acquired and customized diamond jewelry just hours after the award.
The 275-carat-gold jewelry was framed after his iconic nose-mask which he sports during matches and is said to worth millions.
He also dropped shots of himself on his hardest drip with his multi-million Mercedes Benz G-Wagon.
Osimhen’s bling posts without a congratulatory message to Lookman raised eyebrows of a possible rift between him and Lookman.
But he has now put the speculations to rest with a reply to a fan who asked why his was yet to congratulate the compatriot.
The fan, reacting to one of the bling posts on X, asked, “You never congratulated Lookman. Wetin Xup?”
He replied, “Done since yesterday around 23:59 Turkish time.”
MySportDab understands Nigeria is two hours behind Turkey so Osimhen meant he congratulated Lookman on Tuesday by 9pm – that is over 24 hours after the award.
Meanwhile, it has been noted that he didn’t post his congratulatory message in the said time but must have called in and congratulated the player.
While there are still doubts of a spotless relationship between the two players, Osimhen’s reply has apparently downed speculations of a potential rift between him and Lookman.
