Manchester United legend and Plymouth manager Wayne Rooney has broken his silence on reports linking him to scandalous reports of infidelity to his wife, MySportDab reports.
The former Everton and Man United forward was seen in footage appearing to allow a mystery woman into his flat.
Another indictive footage also showed the England footballing legend in a pub with another mystery lady having a nice time together.
This sparked speculations of dishonesty and infidelity to his wife Coleen Rooney.
Now, taking to his Instagram handle, the 39-year-old cleared the air in a lengthy post, revealing that he was only assisted by the woman and her husband with a lift and had nothing insidious going on as speculated.
He went on to blast the media for editing the video and making it appear as if the woman had entered his room by herself.
He also clarified that the footage was from last summer and was re-edited by the media.
“I am aware of a video circulating online.
“The video shows a man and woman looking around my apartment.
“The couple kindly gave me a lift home and were in there at the same time as my son who was visiting.
“Footage is from last summer, it is annoying that at least one online newspaper has chosen to edit the footage to make it appear as though a woman entered the apartment on her own.
“That is simply not true,” he wrote on Instagram.
The footage was reportedly shared by an irate Plymouth fan who is unimpressed with Rooney’s trail in the club’s dugout.
The English football legend has endured a rough spell in the dugout as Plymouth manager just months into the role.
He kicked off his reign in May 2024 with a thumping 4-0 defeat and has won just 5 of his 25 matches, drawing 6, and losing 14.
Plymouth now sit bottom of the English second tier with 18 points from 23 games and are heavily sunk in the battle to survive relegation.
It is believed the fans must have shared the footage to register their displeasure over the state of things at the club under Rooney.
Rooney penned down a three-year contract with the club but sources close to the gaffer revealed he could exit his role sooner if the team continue to struggle for results.
